When Padman leaves your eyes soaked with bucket of water
It was quite certain to me that, when there is witty Twinkle Khanna in pseudonym of Mrs. Funny Bones, behind the production of her best half Akshay Kumar starring Padman, it would be worth watching. I am delighted to say that, yes, my supposition was appropriate. The very first scene appeared on the screen was the beautiful song sung by none other than, Arijit Singh and magnificently portrayed by the newly married couple, Akshay and Radhika Apte. How beautifully this song was executed nobody can understand unless they do not watch it. However, the fresh, crisp romance between a newly wed couple, was woven so naturally and realistically, that it seemed immensely relatable. Every household should consist of a loving, caring and supportive husband like Lakshmi played by Akshay. Several times it brought tear into my eyes when Lakshmi got desperate to bring in good health and happiness in the life of his beloved wife by going against every kind of bigotry persisting in our society, be it his mother, sisters or neighbors. The story line was advancing quite well along with the display of awestruck mechanical advancements. Lakshmi taught us how the combination of simplicity and intelligence could produce innovation. However, things were going well but since the arrival of Sonam Kapoor, the plot absorbed another dimension, that is, a love triangle, it became bland. Somehow the movie started to become flimsy and unconvincing to a certain extent. It looked good when an outsider like, Pari played by Sonam, extended her hands to assist and cooperate Lakshmi in his every distress and Lakshmi started climbing up the stairs of achievement. But their relationship could have unfold some other intense aspects, which failed to demonstrate. In fact, the climax and the ending seemed to me as if broken pieces were combined together forcefully and deliberately, to give it a happy ending. Therefore, it being definitely a good movie with some laudable performances, this film lacks certain spices which prevents it to become the movie of the year. Over all, this was certainly a feel good production and I would like to give it a 3.75 stars. Thank you !
