Manna Dey is no more!!

The legendary singer Manna Dey passed away.

The day being 24th of October, I received the mournful news of the god-gifted singer Manna Dey's demise from Facebook posts. How strange it is that, nowadays before any other media, we get to hear all kind of news from Facebook first! Whatever, coming to the point, hearing the news at the first hour, I was totally shattered. It seemed that, with his passing, one of the most musical chapter of Music industry has been sealed forever. As music maestro like Manna Dey gets birth in this world once in a century. Undoubtedly, I am a enormous fan of Manna Dey, perhaps most of the music lovers are. The manliness in his voice blended with sweetness and a classical twist quenches our thirst for supreme melody. Whenever I listen to his creations, as if a  kind of goose bumps I can feel. As if it transcends me to another world. This supreme artist provided music industry 3500 terrific songs. Most of those are unparalleled,  inimitable and worth remembering for one's whole lifetime.
Some of his masterpieces are:
  • " Pyar hua, iqraar hua" from " Awara",
  • " E bhai zaara dekhke chaalo" from " Mera naam joker",
  • " Ek chaaturnaar" from " Padosan",
  • " Laaga chunari mein daag",
  • " Yeh dosti"  from "Sholay",
  • "Zindagi kaisi yeh paheli" from "Anand" etc in Bollywood Industry.

In Bengali music industry he has also a notable contribution.
Songs like:
  • " Ami j jolshaghorer" ,
  • "Ami yamini tumi shoshi he" from "Antony Firingi",
  • " Baje go beena" from "Marjina Abdullah",
  • " She amar chhoto bon",
  • "Jodi kagoje lekho naam" etc songs have become immortal.
  • His " Coffee houser shei adda ta",
  • " Hoyto tomari jonyo", or
  • " Jibone ki pabona" have turned up to be the epitome of evergreen youth.

Protagonists whether in Bollywood or Tollywood cinema, very nicely match his voice, as he used to have a playback and heroic voice texture. This paramount personality has been appreciated at different times by various supreme awards like:
  • National award,
  • Filmfare award,
  • Padmashree,
  • Padmabhushan,
  • Dadasaheb Phalke,
and finally
  • Bongobibhushan award.

Finally, I would like to conclude by saying that, Manna Dey, you will be remembered whenever music related discussions will take place in future. It is very difficult for music lovers like me to believe that music stalwart like Manna Dey is no more. Oh! immortal artist, may your soul rests in peace.
